As Christians, we are called to be the Salt and Light of this world, therefore our core values are…

“As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”  - 1 Peter 1:14-16

Christians are called to be holy. It is our duty. We can only make an impact in our community and our world by showing what it means to be the ‘Salt and Light’ of the world. Without displaying holiness in our lives first, we cannot help foster holiness in the lives of the unholy. Our holiness is the first step to being the salt and light of this world.

Living in this world, we are faced with many temptations that do not speak faithfully to others. We will be faced with difficult dilemmas throughout our lives and at times be at loss. But as the salt and light of the world, we must choose to uphold our integrity as Christians in all situations.

“We love because he first loved us.”  - 1 John 4:19

Being a Christian means to be Christ-like. We are imitating Christ in our lives. We need to especially imitate Christ’s sacrificial love. God gave us his one and only Son to save us. Christ gave up himself, to prove God’s love for us. As the Salt and light who are imitating God’s love, we should show this sacrificial love to all people including our enemies.

As a true Christian, being merciful is not optional; it’s an obligation. Loving those who love you is not being merciful. Mercy is to give loving hands to underserving people. That’s the mercy that God has given to us. As the ‘Salt and Light”, we show mercy and grace to all people even when they do not deserve it.
